Initial consultation

Prior to your consultation , an information and medical history form is sent to you to complete and return. This form will help us to be better prepared for your appointment. When you arrive at our office we will take facial and oral photographs and a screening examination will be completed. We have found that having photographs present during the consultation helps to facilitate accurate communication regarding the findings. We will spend the time needed in order to make sure that you have an understanding of the potential needs and try to answer any other questions including finaces that you might have regarding orthodontics or our office.

Diagnostic records

If after the consultation we can see that a need exists for treatment or further investigation, diagnostic records will be made. The diagnostic records allow Dr. Wright to investigate the problems that exist and are important in developing a custom treatment plan for each patient. The records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment. Diagnostic records consist of medical/dental histories, photographs of the face and teeth, plaster study models and radiographs (x-rays).

Final consultation and bonding

It is important for one or both parents to be present with the patient at this appointment. Prior to starting treatment the completed treatment plan will be reviewed and paperwork will be completed. Placing braces or other appliances will take from one to two hours.

Bonding procedures

The orthodontic appliances that we use are very efficient when they are placed in their proper position, allowing us to accomplish more with less frequent visits. Since we understand that our patients and their families are busy with many other activities, anything that we can do to make the process more efficient is valuable. To help us most accurately position the braces, we use an indirect bonding process. In essence, this entails us spending a significant amount of time in the laboratory preparing the braces and custom delivery trays for each individual.

Appointment policy

The starting phase of orthodontic treatment is always the most time consuming. Once all of the appliances are placed, the routine appointments are normally short and scheduled at intervals between six and twelve weeks. We are able to schedule multiple shorter routine-adjustment appointments after school as long as we don't schedule long appointments during that same time. Therefore, the long appointments are scheduled in the morning and early afternoon. Even then, occasionally our patients will need to slip out of class for an adjustment; however, if we reserve the after school hours for as many short appointments as possible, these instances are minimized considerably. In cases when it is necessary to miss class, we encourage patients to schedule their appointment during classes that are easy to make up. This system gives all of our patients the same consideration when it comes to missing class for orthodontic appointments.

Financial arrangements

In every case, the fees are determined on the severity of the patient's problem. In some cases, the fees can be discussed at the initial consultation. In other cases the fees are not finalized until the diagnostic process has been completed. We have payment plans to suit different budgets, including a no-down-payment option. Financial arrangements can be made to extend credit at no interest over a period of months. You may choose an option in which you feel the most comfortable. Treatment fees paid in full at the starting of treatment save us paperwork and time. We pass the savings on to you by reducing the fees to match these administrative savings.

Insurance

We accept insurance from many companies including Aetna, BlueCross and BlueShield, Cigna, Delta, Marsh, PEHP, T.D.A., Utah Local Government Trust, Western Mutual and many others. As a service to our patients, we will organize and file insurance claims for you. Please ask our financial coordinator for other details.

It is critical that you meet your financial obligation. If your financial situation changes, we will be glad to discuss rearranging your payment schedule to fit new circumstances.
